TODDLER ROOM
Children move from the babyroom to our toddler room when they are steady on their feet. This usually coincides with starting to develop a sense of autonomy the sense of being a separate an independent self. Each child needs to develop a sense of autonomy, the sense of being a separate, independent self, that comes from being treated as an important individual and being allowed increasing opportunities for freedom. The "no" of toddlers is an assertion of autonomy that leads to freely saying "yes" and developing the power to control bodies and feelings. Only when children feel a sense of personal power ("I can affect things"), are they ready to move to the next critical task of realising a sense of competence ("I can achieve things"); and step out into the wider world as active learners and problem-solvers. Toddler room curriculum and daily routines have been carefully devised to maximixe their growth and development in all areas. Independence in self care feeding, dressing is encouraged. We support your child’s language development with stories, and rhymes, memory games. Table top activities such as jig saws , and construction blocks ,shape sorters are the some of the activities used to help your child develop their concentration skills. Then as your child’s concentration develops the staff start introducing some Montessori exercises to them .This aids their transition from the toddler room to the Montessori room, instilling in them great confidence and a sense of achievement. |
